The stars of "Campeones" at Callao
Over 700 guests came to the special viewing of "Campeones," which the AMÁS Group association organised at Cines Callao. Some of the stars and the scriptwriter, David Marqués, were also present. Guests were able to ask them questions during a colloquium held after the screening.
Directed by Javier Fesser, "Campeones" is an example of a billboard hit, with over 2.5 million viewers already. A film loaded with feeling, emotion and tenderness, with plenty of educational messages for children and adults alike.
Mario Casas presents "Bajo la piel del lobo (The skin of the wolf)"
Actor Mario Casas went to Cines Callao for the preview of his latest film, "The Skin of the Wolf," the story of a trapper whose solitary life in the mountains is upset when a woman arrives and he discovers new feelings. Casas attended the event with Samu Fuentes, director and screenwriter for the film, and the entire artistic crew. Many famous faces from film and culture were present at the premiere.
Javier Bardem and Penélope Cruz, stars at the premiere of "Loving Pablo"
Filmax selected Cines Callao to present "Loving Pablo" in Spain, a film narrating the rise and fall of drug trafficker Pablo Escobar through the words of Colombian journalist Virginia Vallejo, with whom he had a romantic relationship. The premiere, sponsored by LG OLED TV, was attended by the film's stars, Javier Bardem and Penélope Cruz, and the director, Fernando León de Aranoa, accompanied by many other famous faces who didn't want to miss out on this promising preview. Andreu Buenafuente, Carlos Bardem, Almudena Cid and Elena Anaya were amongst them.
The mayor of Madrid comes to the premiere of "The best day of my life" at Callao
The mayor of Madrid, Manuela Carmena, presided over the premiere of "The Best Day of My Life" at Cines Callao, a documentary recounting the struggle and victory of 6 homosexuals. The preview was attended by the film's director, Fernando Gonzánzelez Molina ("Tres metros sobre el cielo (Three Steps Above Heaven)") and its main characters. Some of the famous faces who didn’t want to miss out on the occasion were Javier Alcalde and Javier Ambrossi ("Los Javis"), Mario Casas and his brother Óscar, Irene Villa, Begoña Villacís and Antonio Orozco.
"The Best Day of My Life," produced by SundanceTV and El País, with the collaboration of Madrid Town Hall, tells the story of six people from different countries (Spain, Russia, Uganda and France) who, under difficult circumstances, dare to live as their true selves with pride, joy and engagement. They all met last year in Madrid to enjoy WorldPride 2017 together.
RTVE presents the new season of "Cuéntame" at Callao
RTVE chose Cines Callao to present the new 19th season of "Cuéntame." All the Alcántaras came to the premiere, along with other main characters from the series mingling with well-known film and TV personalities who wanted to enjoy this long-awaited preview. They included some of the contestants from the current season of Operación Triunfo, such as Cepeda, Ricky, Raoul, Mirella, Nerea and others, as well as the host, Roberto Leal. Characters from other series on the network also attended, including "Traición," "Servir y proteger," "Fugitiva" and "Inhibidos."
Premiere of "La peste" at Cines Callao
MoviStar+ selected Cines Callao to hold the premiere for "La Peste," the most anxiously awaited Spanish series of the season. Created by Alberto Rodríguez (director) and Rafael Cobos, "La Peste" brings us back to late 16th-century Seville. Poverty, corruption and the plague set the tone for the city, which at the time was the metropolis of the Western world and candidate for capital of the kingdom.
The premiere, which included a showing of the first two episodes in the series, was attended by creators and producers and the entire artistic cast: Pablo Molinero, Paco León, Patricia López Arnáiz, Sergio Castellanos, Manuel Solo, Cecilia Gómez, Lupe del Junco and more. A great number of representatives from Spanish film and other well-known personalities also attended. They all posed at an original photo op booth, "invaded" by gold-coloured rats at the entrance to the cinema.
Tom Cruise stirs passions during the premiere of "The mummy" at Cines Callao
Despite the heat in Madrid, a jam-packed Square of Callao expectantly awaited Tom Cruise's arrival to the premiere of The Mummy at Cines Callao. Over one thousand people were the first to see the North American actor's latest film as he attended the premiere accompanied by the two other main characters, Sofia Boutella and Annabelle Wallis, and the director, Alex Kurtzman.
Right after 19.30, Tom Cruise arrived, elegantly dressed in a bluish-grey suit, to the delight of hundreds of people in the square. He signed autographs and took photos with his fans for around an hour before posing for the press and entering Cines Callao, where he addressed the audience, thanking them for attending and hoping they all enjoyed the film.
Distributed by Universal Pictures, The Mummy is an action-adventure film, rife with special effects.
Richard Gere presents "Norman" at Cines Callao
The Cines Callao were the stage for a massive new film premiere. This time around, it was actor Richard Gere who was welcomed by a throng of fans awaiting him in Madrid's Square of Callao. He came, along with his partner, Alejandra Silva, to present his latest work: Norman: The Moderate Rise and Tragic Fall of a New York Fixer.
This premiere was for charity purposes, with funds allocated to the foundations Juegaterapia (www.juegaterapia.org), which helps children suffering from cancer to get through their hospital stay by playing games, and ICT (www.savetibet.org), which works to defend human rights and democratic freedom in Tibet.
Afterward, they posed for the media next to little Mateo and Carmen, cancer sufferers under treatment, who came to the premiere with the President of Juegaterapia, Mónica Esteban, and the Honorary President, Pablo Ibáñez (El Hombre de Negro/The Man in Black).
Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard "Revolutionise" Callao square with the preview of "Allied"
As predicted, Madrid's Square of Callao was entirely sold out. Hundreds of people swarmed around Cines Callao to catch an up-close glimpse of Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard, who came for the 6th Madrid Premiere Week's preview of Allies, a film directed by Robert Zemeckis (Back to the Future, Forrest Gump), starring the famous actors.
Nearly 1,200 spectators had the chance to attend this first viewing of the feature-length film, a romantic drama blending espionage and suspense in a story set in WWII. Before the viewing, Brad Pitt and a very pregnant Marion Cotillard posed for photographers at the photo op booth at the cinema entrance, accompanied by Graham King, the film's producer.
Preview of "Jumanji: welcome to the jungle"
Sony Pictures selected Cines Callao as the stage for the preview of "Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. The event was attended by singers Adexe and Nau, who gave a live performance of the film's theme soundtrack song.
Directed by Jake Kasdan and starring Dwayne Jonhson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan, Nick Jonas and more, "Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle," is a fun adventure film, the sequel to the hit Jumanji (1995), starring Robin Williams (Alan Parrish).
Madrid premiere week once again triumphs at Cines Callao
Once again, Cines Callao rolled out the red carpet to celebrate the 7th Madrid Premiere Week. Four days of the best cinema enjoyed by a throng of spectators, including many famous celebrities and the artistic teams of some of the films vying for the awards.
For example, the crew from Muse, the new psychological thriller by Jaume Balagueró (REC and Sleep Tight), who attended the premiere with two of the actresses, Leonor Watlling and Manuela Vellés, and Gold, an adventure drama directed by Agustín Díaz Yanes, inspired by Spanish expeditions to the Amazon jungle in the 16th century. Díaz Yanes was also at Callao, along with the majority of the film's artistic cast, including Raúl Arévalo, Bárbara Lennie, Óscar Jaenada, José Coronado and Juan Diego.
In addition to Muse and Gold, James Franco's The Disaster Artist was also viewed this year, which won a Golden Shell at the San Sebastian Film Festival in 2017, and Breathe, by Andy Serkis.
Wind River, a thriller directed by Taylor Schreidar, Algo Muy Gordo, a sci-fi comedy directed by Carlo Padial starring Berto Romero, who also attended the presentation, and Hikari (Radiance), by Naomi Kawase, the director of "An (Sweet Bean)" were on the list of premieres in the off section. Moreover, El Juego, by Isabel Coixet, was shown, the third Proyecto Tiempo short film, an initiative by Gas Natural Fenosa to raise awareness in society about responsible energy use.
Premiere of "Muchos hijos, un mono y un castillo"
Around one thousand spectators, many of whom were celebrities, accompanied Gustavo Salmerón during the premiere of "Muchos hijos, un mono y un castillo," taking place last 13 December at Cines Callao. A documentary starring his mother, Julia Salmerón, narrating absurd, wacky situations in his peculiar family.
Pedro Almodóvar, Fernando Colomo, Alejandro Amenábar, Itziar Castro, Sandra Escacena, Santiago Alverú, Elena Anaya, Carlos Areces, Manuel Velasco, Flipy, Candela Peña, Julián Villagrán, Santiago Segura, Manuela Velasco, Emma Suárez, Amarna Miller and Íñigo Errejón were some of the well-known characters who, along with the entire Salmerón family, attended the premiere at the Cines Callao.
They all posed for an original photo op inside, decorated with armour, a skeleton and a sofa and velvet curtains, clearly a nod toward the documentary's script.
Packed premiere of the 7th season of "Game of thrones"
Around 800 spectators enjoyed the worldwide premiere of the seventh season of the popular North American series "Game of Thrones" at Madrid's Cines Callao. A huge event, organised by the TV channel HBO, with a throng of fans and well-known faces from film and TV.
With the actor and host David Sainz as master of ceremonies, the lucky ones who attended this premiere also enjoyed, as the lead-in to the grand premiere, a viewing of the last two episodes of the series' previous season and five episodes of Síndrome Valyrio, a web series starring YouTuber David Sainz launched on social media by HBO to promote the premiere of the seventh season of Game of Thrones.
This cult series' premiere for millions of television viewers all over the world could be simultaneously viewed in Spain (subtitled, in original version) and in the United States. Beforehand, those attending the event at Cines Callao could take photos on the popular iron throne, one of the series' most representative icons, and pose in the photo op booth with a snow effect, emulating some of the most famous scenes from this television phenomenon.
The premiere of "Blade runner 2049" mobs Callao with celebrities... And a few "Replicants"
The Cines Callao celebrated the premiere of Blade Runner 2049, a must-see event for hundreds of followers and loads of celebrities, including Eva Hache, Alaska, Maxi Iglesias, Cristina Villanueva, Risto Mejide and Laura Escanes, Raquel Sánchez Silva, and more.
The viewing, organised by Sony Pictures, was on an original stage: the auditorium was turned into a space to enjoy the film and a nice drink of Johnnie Walker, the event's sponsor. The premiere, which included a welcome drink served at the bar located at the entrance to the cinema, came to an end with all guests enjoying a cocktail. There were many actors dressed up like police officers and replicants.
Directed by Denis Villeneuve, Blade Runner 2049 is the sequel to the film which, in 1982 (Blade Runner, directed by Ridley Scott), led to the birth of a new cinematographic genre: neo-noir cyberpunk.
Premiere of "Tini: the new life of Violetta"
Good weather smiled on the hundreds of people crowding Callao Square to see the famous actors in "Tini: The New Life of Violetta," Disney Pictures' new film. An acclaimed photo op and coordinated organisation led this event, organised by Atresmedia Events, to have a huge media and social impact.
Tini: The New Life of Violetta, is the sequel to Violetta, Disney Channel's hit TV series. Directed by Juan Pablo Buscarini, just like the series, the film stars Martina Stoessel, Jorge Blanco and Adrián Salzedo.
